Beliefs You Can Change In

I saw one person of color at the Republican National Convention this week: John McCain's adopted Bangladeshi daughter. As lonely as this cherubic teen must have felt at the GOP White Sale, I know some people who feel even lonelier after hearing The Maverick's speech:

Liberals.

Moderates.

Conservatives.

Religious extremists.

Atheist kooks.

The theologically non-committal.

The young.

The elderly.

The marginally rich.

The phenomenally poor.

Canadians.

Well, probably not Canadians, but certainly everyone else.

Why?

Because when the chips are down and the curtain is closed, Americans vote for Men of Ideals, not Ideas.

John McCain is the Ideal candidate for President:

He's old.

White.

Heroic.

Pro-Life.

Privileged.

Anti-Establishment.

Hope springs eternal in the hearts and heads of millions of Obama supporters out there—this one included—but if the last eight years have taught me anything, it's this:

Never underestimate the political power of white people who love Jesus.
